Tips by Urban Samurai Creative

I’m Yukihiro Uemura, the proud owner of Urban Samurai Creative.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I began my career as a creative director in my native Japan in 2001. After a successful year of managing video productions, I wanted to learn more about the branding and advertising side of the industry, so I pursued a business degree in marketing and advertising at San Francisco State University.

Returning to my Passion

In 2006, I returned to television production and went to work for CBS, where I collaborated on numerous award-winning commercial productions.

To gain more experience, I worked for various creative production shops with clients, including Google, EA Sports, Bank of America, the Home Depot, ABC, the NBA, MTV, the Food Network, the Travel Channel, and the Discovery Network. A few of my TV shows and commercials got nominated for Emmy Awards.

In 2013, I felt confident that I had honed my skills and gained enough experience to open a creative production business, so I launched Urban Samurai Creative.

Evolving With Technology

Since getting into the industry, it has evolved considerably due to disruptive technology. For example, when I started, I used Beta Tape and could only shoot in SD (640x480). Fast forward twenty years, and I can now shoot beautifully in 12K (12,288x6,480).

Additionally, as a camera operator, I used a black-and-white viewfinder to shoot, which made it nerve-racking to maintain focus and white balance. These days I get to confidently shoot with an HD viewfinder in color.

Communication and Collaboration

I love shooting interviews, as I learn a lot about the person, their passion for their job, and new topics in general. My business philosophy is to make a reel out of each project. It means that I put a hundred percent into each project with the hope of showcasing it later. Therefore, I work directly with clients, which gives every project my signature touch.

As a broadcast specialist, I always communicate my vision, and what sets me apart is the collaborative process I maintain with my team. I create synergy with some of the most talented people in the industry, allowing me to offer complete production services to my clients.

My crew crafts videos to “WOW” the audience of customers. As a result, when clients say, “Our audience loved your video!” It’s incredibly rewarding as it means we successfully used our artistry to turn their dream into reality.

Photography and extreme sports

When I’m not conceptualizing ideas with my team, I love photography and adventure sports. I have been going white water rafting and rock climbing for over twenty years. It includes doing Class 6 rapids and jumping off waterfalls with a raft.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things that matter to me and how they influence how I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as the owner of a full-service video production company in Sunnyvale, California, I invite you to contact me. Please call (415) 320-8371 or email INFO@URBANSAMURAICREATIVE.COM.

Yukihiro
